Weaving A Tapestry of Excellence
“There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.” —Ralph Blum
This year these words resonate with the management, staff and students of Grace Ling Liang English School as we feel overwhelmed with gratitude as we step into the fiftieth year of our illustrious institution. In this jubilee year, we reminisce and acclaim the vision of our founders, Rev. Dr. & Mrs. T. David Lamb, who exhibited utmost stewardship and overcame several obstacles to lead GLLES to embark upon its incredible journey of aggrandizement.
Half a century ago, in the dawning light of this educational endeavor, a vision was cast, a seed was sown, and from that humble inception, our school has blossomed into a veritable bastion of knowledge, wisdom, and character formation. As we stand at this juncture, we find ourselves amidst the splendor of history, a tapestry woven with the threads of countless achievements, indomitable spirits, and the enduring commitment of our educators.
Since, the inception of the institution in the year 1974, GLLES has been treading the path of amelioration in every respect, finding myriad reasons to experience the graces bestowed by the good Lord upon our institution. Needless to say, the foundation of this institution was augmentated with every passing year with the implacable enterprise made by the GLLES family, comprising the management, principals, teachers, staff and students. Each member has made a conspicuous contribution to the institution, shown an imperishable allegiance to it, worked towards its prosperity, embraced changes for its melioration and constructed - a pioneer educational institution.
Over the years, we have fostered an environment that has not merely imparted knowledge but has nurtured intellects, kindled passions, and forged bonds that have withstood the test of time. Our school has been the crucible in which the raw material of potential was transformed into the refined metal of achievement, illuminating the path toward success. The mosaic of achievements both academic & extra curricular, woven by the luminaries who have graced. These hallowed halls, is a vivid tapestry of our collective pursuit of excellence.
The golden jubilee is not merely a celebration of longevity but a testament to the unyielding pursuit of excellence. It is a moment of reflection, a juncture to honor the profound impact of our institution on the lives of those who have graced its hallowed halls. It is a salute to the countless educators who have tirelessly dedicated their lives to the cause of enlightenment.
‘Deo Gratias’, the motto of our school feels beseeming to the institution’s scholastic and co-scholastic achievements, which makes us feel humbled and blessed. Paramountly, we feel beholden to God for furnishing us with prudence and unyielding spirit that has facilitated us to accomplish the vision of this institution, which is to bequeath holistic education and to produce a tangible reality for every child to avail of this opportunity despite facing any impediments. GLLES has always wrought to foster the holistic growth of our students, which would help them scale greater heights in life.
As we stand on the precipice of the future, we do so with unwavering determination to carry forward the legacy of our school. The torch that has illuminated the minds of the past will continue to light the way for generations yet to come. In celebrating this momentous occasion we pay homage to the luminaries who have been the vanguards of our academic odyssey and to the stalwart teachers whose ceaseless commitment has ignited the flames of curiosity within generations of students. We pledge to uphold the values, the traditions, and the standards of excellence that have defined our institution.
In the words of William Wordsworth, "The best portion of a good man's life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love." Our school has been a sanctuary for such acts, where kindness and love have been sown into the very fabric of our community.
So, as we embark on this grand celebration, let it be a reminder that we are not merely marking the passage of time but celebrating the enduring spirit of knowledge, the benevolence of education, and the profound sense of gratitude for the rich tapestry of memories we have woven together. The future beckons, and we shall meet it with the same enthusiasm, determination, and resilience that have carried us through the last fifty years.
May this golden jubilee be a symbol of the brilliance that lies ahead.
Thus, I would like to leave you with this significant thought from the Bible, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever!” (1 CHRONICLES 16:34)
